Frequently Asked Questions

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing process done by hand, not a machine, to imitate individual hairstrokes.

Why is it semi-permanent?

Because it is done by hand, I have complete control of my pressure and how deep I go. My pressure is very light so therefore we do not go down all 7 layers of the skin to make it a permanent tattoo.

Does it hurt?

No. I make sure all of my clients are completely comfortable and before we even get started you are numbed with a topical lidocaine. After we have started and the skin is broken open, I then numb you again with another lidocaine which also has epinephrine in it to reduce swelling and redness.

Do you use one color on everyone?

No. There is a wide variety of colors I choose to use and I have 3 color lines I like to use. Every person is custom and has their own color made to fit their skin tone and what they like.

Can I get my face wet? Am I allowed to wash my face?

YES! I am not quite sure where the rumor came about that you can’t wash you face, but with me it is the exact opposite. I tell all my clients to wash their face 1-2 times a day. Just like a regular tattoo. I not only give you take home instructions with how to care and what to use, but I verbally tell you all of this before you walk out my door.

Will I look scary when I walk out of this appointment? How long is this healing?

No! It will be slightly bolder and will get darker the first three days, but that is only because the ink is forming a scab with the blood. I take into account all of this when I choose your color because it will be 5-10% lighter and smaller once it is fully healed in 14-21 days. The scabs usually fall off around day 5-6, but the ink does have to regenerate back up to the surface with the new skin to see what came back and what didn’t. When the scabs are present it just looks like a perfectly filled in brow =)

How long does it last?

This is a semi-permanent tattoo. So with that being said, you will need to see me once a year for maintenance touch ups. Some people with severe oily or rejection will have to see me 2 times a year, worst case scenario 3, but that is a rare case.

How do you pick my shape?

I have been in the beauty industry since 2011 and face shape is something I have had to acquaint myself with very well being a cosmetologist. Eyebrows are the most prominent feature on a persons face so I need to make sure they compliment their already beautiful features!

I’m so nervous, what should I expect?

Don’t be! I make the whole experience fun! I make sure your comfortable and that we laugh and make sure you don’t feel any discomfort. This is a new feature were enhancing on your face, the last thing I want is your friends filling your head with horror stories. While that can happen, I assure you with me you are safe and happy to be there!

Do I get to see them before we microblade?

YES! Absolutely! I wouldn’t do one thing without consulting and getting your permission first! I hold your hand through the entire process! (not literally……unless you really need it LOL!)

What if I don’t like it?

Deal with it……. JUST KIDDING! As stated in previous answers, you are walked through the whole process so that we can make sure that affect doesn’t happen. Sometimes it is a shock at first to people who have not had eyebrows ever, but then later become something they can’t live without. It definitely might be something that takes adjustment to, but one you definitely grow to LOVE!

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

ABSOLUTELY! I encourage it! It looks great for the before and after pictures! It is also not required to wear makeup as well. I just want you to show up with however you are comfortable!

Is there anything I am supposed to do before my appointment? Should I eat?

All preliminary requirements I will tell you about 10 days in a confirmation email before your appointment of what no to do. Example, alcohol is definitely one thing on that list. We don’t want to thin the blood before we do this procedure!
